about

Dark Eyes is a Russian romance song with lyrics written by Ukrainian poet Yevhen Hrebinka, first published in 1843. It is known as a gypsy romance cabaret song based on the origional melody of Florian Hermann's Valse Hommage. The most renowned and played version of this song was written by Adalgiso Ferraris, and published, in Russia, in 1910.

lyrics

Oh those gorgeous eyes
dark and glorious eyes
burn with passion eyes
how they hyptomize
how I adore you so
how i fear you though
since i saw your dark eyes glow

no not sad am I
or so mad am I
for all my comfort lies
in those gorgeous eyes
how I adore you so
how i fear you though
since i saw your dark eyes glow

Ochi chornyye, ochi strastnyye,
Ochi zhguchiye i prekrasnyye!
Kak lyublyu ya vas, kak boyus' ya vas!
Znat' uvidel vas ya v nedobryi chas!

(Очи чёрные, очи страстные,
Очи жгучие и прекрасные!
Как люблю я вас, как боюсь я вас!
Знать, увидел вас я в недобрый час!)
